Barista

Duties and Responsibilities
As Barista, I will support the Senior Barista and Director of Bars and assume responsibility for the efficient operation in the following:
- Greet guests on arrival, by name where possible, in an efficient and friendly manner.
- Answer outlet telephone courteously and efficiently as specified in department standards.
- Participate in Supplier training and improve general coffee & tea knowledge.
- Engage with coffee suppliers and understand their philosophy.
- Prepare and execute food item reheat recipes where require following standards provided by the Culinary team.
- Support the production and mise en place for juices and smoothie program.
- Promote coffee consumption and tea blends by educating guests by selling coffee, tea blends and coffee grinding and brewing equipment, accessories, and supplies.
- Update signage, menu and displays.
- Present and explain the coffee drink menu and able to explain the differences in coffee beans and coffee preparation machines and devices, as well as all deli, bakery items sold in the outlet.
- Prepare and sell coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks, juices and smoothie.
- Learn about different brewing methods, beverage blends, food preparation, and presentation techniques to improve food and beverage quality.
- Maintain inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply, stocking coffee brewing equipment, maintaining supplies, pastries, and cookies for coffee bar.
- Use the appropriate ware for the different coffee beverages.
- Have knowledge of guests likes and dislikes pertaining to drinks throughout their stay.
- Make every effort to ensure the comfort and enjoyment of guest’s beverage requests throughout service.
- Have a good knowledge of all outlet menus (food and wine) and F&B day to day activities and operational hours.
- Knowledge and strict adherence to LQA standards.

Qualifications
To execute the position of Barista, I must have the required qualifications, technical skills and experience in a similar role in luxury hotels with proven results and includes the following:
- High school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 years’ experience in a similar operational role or similar setting. Hospitality diploma/degree from a recognized hospitality school is preferred.
- Experience in coffee and tea brewing and know the coffee and tea production process from growth to final beverage. Know the characteristics of the different types of coffee and tea and roasting process.
- Possess knowledge in Fair Trade coffee.
- Familiar with Food and Beverage terminology, application, operation, wine service, costs, menu development food and hygiene codes and controlling inventory
- Fluent in English; I understand that additional languages are preferred.
